You may or may not have ever thought about getting an antique vanity, but there are many ways to use a real antique or even a reproduction or antique style vanity in your home decorating and remodeling.
There are so many decorating styles now days and those styles no longer a re strict and rigid design styles. Eclectic decorating is more popular and can be a very creative and interesting way to decorate or remodel your home.
Some ways that people will use an authentic antique vanity is to restore it to original and use it strictly like it was originally. Depending on the value, you will need to decide carefully if you wish to have it restored, since there are times when this will diminish it’s value. On the other hand if the antique vanity is in very poor shape it would be a great candidate for your creativity. Since the value of a piece that is in poor condition is minimal, you can only increase it’s value by restoring or repairing it. In the process of fixing it you may decide to use it in a less that authentic way for your decorating.
Many times and old vanity can be retrofitted to be a modern sink and faucet cabinet, actual installed as a permanent fixture. With proper planning and care this can be a very nice way to use an old decrepit piece of furniture. Really your own creativity and imagination is your only limit when doing this.
You may eve n be able to repurpose furniture or cabinets used for any purpose in home or business in this way. We have seen buffets. sideboards, dressers, even commercial office furniture turned into very nice bathroom vanities.

Really your own creativity in finding these pieces is part of the fun. There are thrift shops, flee markets and second hand stores that may have pieces that can be used. In some parts of the country estate and farm auctions are another great place to find items.
We have found some items by using the classified section of the local newspaper and online classified site such as Craigslist can be a good resource. It does take time, and you will not often find exactly what you are looking for, but if you keep an open mind oftentimes what you find will spur more creativity and you will create a masterpiece that even surpasses what your original goal was.
The key is to just have fun and you will be able to have an antique vanity that you can be proud of for many years to come
